About This Project
The transformation of Fire Hall No. 3, originally built in 1871, into the Halo Condominium masterfully balances historical preservation with modern design.
The architects have meticulously restored the iconic tower, preserving its rich and diverse history as a centrepiece of the project. Once a vital fire hall, the structure features a striking glass facade that seamlessly blends contemporary elegance with its storied past.
This site also carries profound cultural significance as the former St. Charles Tavern, a landmark for LGBTQ+ activism during the 1970s and 1980s under the leadership of George Hislop. Thoughtful details, such as the pride flag-painted flagpole, honour this legacy, ensuring its history continues to inspire.
